Manchester-based Hannah delivers a second full length album which sees her moving from a R&B jazz flavoured songstress to something altogether more interesting. One website referred to her style as "electronica/folk" but let's settle for the cover-all "pop". At the front and centre of this new release is the fact that Atkins has been blessed with a stunning voice and a gift for songwriting. The thing that sets this apart from the crowd is her ability to create an interesting musical setting for her music. In fact o worry that it might be too good! From the moody almost Enya like opening cut "My Heart's Like A Flower" through to the closing strings and finery of the melodic "Far Away", Hannah Atkins takes you on quite a journey. With gorgeous harmonies, creative arrangements and the opportunity to make the music she wants, songs like the haunting title cut and the fabulous "If Life Were Some Music" really deserve to have a wider audience. This is ambient, vibey pop music at its best! Go on, take a chance and get into some new music.
