Gtay is an emcee who is currently based in Manchester but whose history is on the battle-rap scene in London. This gives him some unique traits as a rapper. This five-track EP is described by Gtay as having a "hardcore message over hard trap and grime beats." Trap music put very simply is a genre of hard beats and basslines often using the classic 808 kicks with syncopated hi-hats and synths. The EP is true to trap with Gtay bringing a UK grime flow over the top of repetitive refrains. Lyrically it's clear that Gtay is an experienced street-based emcee and seems to effortlessly roll off his lines, even when confronting serious topics like ridding ourselves of our self-centredness ("Die To The Flesh") where he accurately reflects, "you'll find more life in the death." Throughout there are pulsating deep 808 kicks and basslines, perhaps none more so than in "Used To Be Me" where Gtay looks back on his past but now doesn't do what he used to. So 'Warfare Music' is an EP for those who want to hear about the King without compromise over trap beats, street music and sub-bass-laden production.
