Greg Long strikes me as one of those singers with the unabashed heart of an evangelist. "Jesus Saves" was the title of a previous album, and Greg now testifies to the outcome, with an opening song/video (included on the enhanced CD), describing his coming to faith as a young child, and baptism in the Gulf of Mexico aged 12, during his father's ministry as an itinerant preacher. Nice archive video clips, but it probably wouldn't have the same aesthetic appeal if his father had been in Catford at the time! Getting back to the music, "Sing About Jesus" gives another reminder of Greg's raison d'etre as a singer, whilst "Fifteen" offers a wider challenge, with the notion that if someone needs to hear the Gospel 15 times before responding, then each of us has a responsibility to share Christ when that chance comes along. Dan Koch's production work on that track in particular leans towards the smooth, Bee Gees-like stylings of his collaborations with 4Him, but for much of the album Mooki (TobyMac, Stacie Orrico), adds a touch of R&B flare. Greg is now working with wife Janna in Avalon (their baby daughter permitting), so it will be interesting to see if that uncompromising missionary fervour rubs off there too.
