'Do Or Die' flows in a similar vein to the Gangstas' 1994 debut 'Gang Affiliated'. Funky productions, some with a softer edge than before guide the preaching, testimony, demon bashing and at the end of the album an opportunity to pray the sinner's prayer. DJ Dove, the driving force behind their first offering, has taken a back seat (probably due to the launch of his new label Holy Terra Productions) and in my opinion the production has suffered because of his absence. Some may disagree. The total reworking of "Y Can't Da Homiez Hear Me" and "Maybe If are examples of the good tunes that the album carries and the message of "Backslider" challenged me to assess how I'm living. If you don't yet have 'Gang Affiliated' then I would invest in that first as both musically and lyrically 'Do Or Die' is a second helping of the same pie rather than a new dish. Dedicated fans should be pleased to gobble up their favourite food.
