By now you've probably read that this, the debut release from a choir formed by gospel superstar Kirk Franklin from 'problem' inner city kids, is a stone smash Stateside not only in gospel circles but in pop and R&B ones as well. And what a searing, soul shaking delight it is! The classic cut is, of course, the smash single remix of "Stomp" where a sample of Parliament/Funkadelic's classic "One Nation Under A Groove" is used as the crunching underlay for a joyous, lugubrious slab of gospel funk complete with a rap from Salt of rap stars Salt 'n' Peppa. Nothing else quite makes those monumental heights though there is a slow ballad "My Life Is In Your Hands" treated exactly like Kirk performed his first "Why We Sing"; and "It's Rainin" with some hilarious spoken interjections. Clearly God's Property are a hot choir and Kirk is continuing his commission to take the unbridled fire and soul of black church into the mainstream.
