Here is a band that has had to emerge in one of the most competitive and talented alternative music scenes in the world, Seattle, at a time when their brand of alternative/nu metal is in decline. This band has had a tough ride to make it this far and they've still some way to go yet if they want to be recognised beyond Washington State. From the first word uttered from the vocalist's mouth you just know that these guys have been heavily influenced by their world famous local grunge scene, but the more you listen the more you realise these guys are more of a metal band than grunge (ala Sevendust). Not only is this a brand of metal that incorporates grunge vocals and sensibilities but it also incorporates electronica from time to time. On top of that the slower tracks once again hark back to the alt musings of those unit shifter bands of the '90s. In other words they're very difficult to pigeonhole and I'm sure the band will be happy to hear me say that! The standout tracks for me are "Bring It On" and the remix of a track from their previous album 'Digital Black', "Disconnect". "Bring It On" opens with a wonderfully metallic intro and through its lyrics encourages us to submit more to the will of God. This is a band both musically and spiritually that is willing to look at the past but still eager to look forward.
