Gill's name may be familiar to connoisseurs of '90s underground R&B due to the track "Make Love To Me", released under the spelling Jill Francis. Gill came to faith by listening to another artist, Lecrae, in 2012 and now the London-based singer presents her gospel debut produced by Mahlon Rhamie. The first thing that hits you is the outstanding smooth vocals that Gill brings to the collection and, as you continue to listen, the different styles presented here. The opener "Let It Rain" with its steady jazz groove, vocally reminds me of Gabrielle. Funky gospel drives "Blessed" while "Look What You've Done" is pop vocals at their best. Not all the tracks work as well, such as "Open & Tender", which became a little tedious musically to these ears, however Gill's voice still made it accessible. Overall, this is a strong album from a singer with the chops to carry off a Gospel MOBO in the years ahead.
