Product Description
George McArdle was the bass guitarist with The Little River Band (LRB), one of the most highly acclaimed rock music bands of all time and the first Australian group to make the top ten charts in the United States, achieving Gold record status.
The band achieved similar success in South America and most European countries with their hit song Reminiscing that was translated into Spanish and French. LRB played in every major venue of North America with bands of the calibre of the Beach Boys, The Doobie Brothers and Fleetwood Mac. Audiences of over 80,000 people were paying big money to attend their concerts.
George McArdle joined the band in 1976 and within weeks was heading off to the United States in an experimental venture to try and make it big overseas. And make it big they did. The Little River Band went on to become one of the seminal groups of Australian rock history and is the only band of any nationality to have scored a top ten hit in The United States, for six consecutive years, between 1977 and 1982.
The album Stingray is George McArdle's first studio album in over ten years and is a compilation of songs written and produced by George McArdle over a five-year period.
McArdle describes the album as such: "It has a distinct LRB sound, stemming from the vocal arrangements, portraying what I believe is not only a continuation, but a maturation, of musicianship since my LRB days. The album features some of Australia's finest musicians including Stewart Frazer (guitar), David Beck (drums), Sam McNally (keyboard), Daniel Spirovski (keys and horns) and, of course, myself (bass guitar, fretless bass and vocals). Furthermore, the album was recorded alongside sound engineer Ern Rose."
The album title refers to McArdle's Music Man Stingray bass guitar that is featured on the album cover.
