Gaz is a Sheffield-based worship leader who, with this six song EP, presents a musical calling card to Joe Public. "He's Alive" features a riff-laden intro, strong drum beat and a sense of expectancy, all courtesy of strong production from the always dependable Andy Baker. However, it quickly lapses into a steady melodic meander. On "Faithful", we have definite U2 overtones that promises to rattle the ornaments at volume but again settles into a pleasant tune, which will hardly cause a ripple on the surface of the goldfish bowl. The final track, "Let It Be Loud", sums up the entire EP, suggesting plenty but without actually delivering a lot. It would be wrong to call this a "cappuccino" EP - lots of froth with little below the surface - as there are some reasonable worship songs, some good piano work, the occasional catchy guitar riff and a voice that's pleasant but not attention grabbing. But 'Strength In Love' lacks a killer song with the potential to impact the national Church.
