The DVD 'Pure And Simple' is the closest the Gaithers have ever come to recording a country project. Backed on stage by a small and all acoustic band it seeks to recreate many of the excellent tracks from their recent CD of the same name. "Do You Wanna Be Well" is one of two solos by the diminutive Wes Hampton, the other being the very moving "I'll Pray For You". Michael English then sings the powerful new song "Cup Of Sorrow" which Bill found through country singer Amos Lee. "Fools Gold" is a very strong song, rendered by the very talented David Phelps, and the closing track "Sow Mercy", written by the Rambos, is an absolute gem. A black gospel singer I had not heard of before, Angela Primm is a surprise guest, backed by a big choir Voices Of Lee, she fairly belts out "Fill My Cup, Lord" and "Said I Wasn't Gonna Tell Nobody". The other guests are the Booth Brothers, who contribute two melodic and thought provoking pieces, "Let The Healing Begin" and "Through", which had many in the audience in tears!
