I confess that I prejudged this album when I was given it to audition for UCB Europe, and to write this review. Frankly, I expected a similar sort of cheese-fest to the 'Homecoming Friends' album I had to review a few issues back, but listening to this, I found some very pleasant easy listening Southern gospel, with no live audience or anything else to distract the listener. Mark Lowry, Guy Penrod and David Phelps join Bill for a dozen numbers new and old, several from the Bill & Gloria Song Book, and whilst some of it is on the corny side (including a rather overblown acappella rendition of 'The Star-Spangled Banner'), there are others that have a certain emotive quality that transcends any underling cheesiness. Not just for Southern gospel devotees; fans of easy listening pop music would probably enjoy most of this.
