Having only recently stumbled across G.L.O I am already firmly convinced that this rapper from Texas is the best female gospel MC on the scene and I'm now slowly going through her back catalogue of stunning releases. 'Fire' came out in 2013 and has all the power, precision and anointing of the other releases I've heard. "In Jesus Name" is a stormy declaration of one of G.L.O's favourite themes - there is no other name through which we may be saved. As she declares in the middle eight, "Not going to water down/Not going to play you." Indeed she doesn't. After such a jaw-dropping start I wondered momentarily whether this righteous rap evangelist could deliver over the next 12 tracks. I shouldn't have doubted. "Can I Get A Witness" features some righteous sisters on BVs (or is that Kim? She sings as well as raps) while the amusing "Hero" begins with banter from two nerds arguing about whether Superman can defeat Batman before G.L.O sets them right about who's the one true Superhero. Finally on the last track "Run" a bit of techno is a foundation to her high velocity flow as she again shows her determination to run the race set before her.
