What can you say about this guy? Stan manages to run a real life ministry in the Bronx, has released other albums in other styles has gained considerable publicity as the only Franciscan monk rapper! Stylistically this album is very much laid back rap, he occasionally recites rather than raps. He can come across pretty well most of the time but I did notice the occasional blip in the rapping. But that is being really picky. Stan's style is very laid back while backing-wise he experiments with world beat and jazz elements which is no bad thing as this keeps things interesting. Personally I find this is the kind of CD that you can chill out and relax to. The lyrics in the main are fun though an airing on the CR Rimmerama programme of a track featuring the immortal line "ain't no party like a Catholic party" brought forth a rather grumpy listener response of "very cheesy." It is obvious that Father Stan's hero is Pope John II and a good part of the album is a tribute to him. The fact that he works with the poor also shines through, maybe other rappers could take note and follow example. My favourite was "B16 Bomber", a very catchy track which really sticks in your head. The proceeds go to the work for the poor so your money will go to a good cause. Not for hardcore hip-hop fans but 'Sacro Song 3' is not without appeal.
