Firefalldown are a London-based three piece and this is a four minute chunk of no-nonsense rock in the style of Red Hot Chili Peppers. The playing is muscular and tight, the production excellent and the arrangement holds the listener's interest with some nice ideas like the brief dead stop 40 seconds from the end. This is preceded by an unusual instrumental section with an excerpt from a preacher overdubbed. Sounds weird but it actually works well. A lot of this style of power-rock can sound samey and clichéd with big sounds attempting to cover moderate songs. On this showing Firefalldown are a refreshing exception, bringing some originality to the genre. What lyrics I could make out are not going to trouble Bob Dylan, but this is about the music, man.
