Georgia's Finding Favour's self-titled EP produced not one but an unprecedented four Cross Rhythms radio hits so we approached this, their first full-length album, with some enthusiasm. We weren't disappointed. From the off the South Georgia band lay down a statement of intent. "Refuge" is a powerful worship anthem and from the moment the drums explode onto the track we are swept along in praise to God who is indeed our refuge from all trouble. Equally effective is the midtempo song "I'll Find You" on which lead singer Blake Neesmith sings tenderly as he contemplates the enormity of making the divine connection. For a complete change, the country-tinged "Tiny Town", complete with some jaunty banjo, is a narrative song on which Neesmith offers some home town memories while "Cast My Cares" turns on the power chords with such vigour that it reminded another reviewer of "Baba O'Riley" by The Who. Another excellent cut is "On The Water with a confessional lyric about going through the motions before settling to get real with God. The album closes with "Say Amen (Reprise)" an earlier version of which was released as the band's second single. A good closer to a great CCM set.
