This is the second full length album from the pop rock band from Lyons, Georgia. When Gotee released their debut full length, 'Reborn', in 2015, it reached number two in the US Christian charts but this 2017 followup failed to chart. Reviews of it were decidedly mixed. Jesusfreakhideout suggested that "most of the runtime is notably lacklustre" while CCM magazine wrote about its "beautifully polished pop melodies. . . As the title suggests, Blake NeeSmith and company speak directly to the fears that haunt the average Christian with words of hope, especially on tracks like 'Mountains Must Move'. Lead single 'It Is Well' fits the same theme, using the familiar hymn as the foundation for a pulsing new pop ballad." Another standout is "Slip On By", encouraging the listener to seize the day and invest in what we have now. The introduction to the song includes a violin hook line which is similar to that of "Bitter Sweet Symphony" by The Verve. Throughout the album, Blake uses his voice exceptionally well, ranging from gravelly on "Get Down", to the delicate and soaring "Mountains Must Move" into a vulnerable "Completely" and falsetto on the disco-influenced "Dance". The range in musical presentation is well underpinned by some good guitar work and some funky keys throughout. Here's hoping Gotee stay with them for a third album.
