This follow up to Family Force 5's 2011 album 'III' is a curious thing. The digital release opens with two previously un-released tracks, the first of which, "Zombie", draws from the nu-metal roots that first made the group successful - in fact its chorus owes more than a little to Limp Bizkit's "Rollin'". The second new track, "Cray Button", is a different animal altogether - it's easy to imagine this electro-pop tune not sounding much different in the hands of Ke$ha. As it turned out, the track, with an additional rap by Lecrae, was to become a download hit for FF5. It's that version which you really need. Elsewhere this EP gives you four acoustic remixes of some of the band's older songs. "Fever" becomes an almost Timberlake-esque funk number and power ballad "Superhero" fits well into its new electro-tinged musical clothes. On the other hand, "Kountry Gentleman", the Rage Against The Machine inspired rocker from the band's first album, just seems like a watered down version of its former self, and breakthrough hit "Love Addict" turns into something that sounds like it could have come from the soundtrack of a Food Network documentary.
