If you’re a lover of drum 'n' bass and have been longing for a Christian album comparable with the best Ronnie Size, your prayers have been answered! FM may be known to you as Faith Massive, whose ‘Drum & Bass For The Masses’ which was out as an import on N-Soul in 1998 and which Alliance Music didn't release in the UK until 2000. Now Joey Davis (the studio maestro who is Faith Massive/FM) shows that his American take on drum’n’bass has come a long way in the past year or two. If you have yet to catch up with FM’s sound let me explain that it manages to create soundscapes that are epic yet accessible, stark yet engaging. You won’t find any puerile floor-fillers here. Rather, you’ll find electronic experimentation that incorporates huge bass, liquid melodies, ricocheting rhythms and the kind of hypnotic minimalism which won’t be appreciated by those looking for pop hooks but will be loved by the devotees of electronic eclecticism. Epitonic ezine called FM the “Gershwin of drum’n’bass.” I’m not arguing.
