Hailing from Norway, this beauty has been given mainstream exposure thanks to PHD's deal with Tooth & Nail, who've picked up distribution for 'Burial' Stateside. Certainly not for the faint of heart, Extol's debut disc easily stands ground next to such bands as Pantara, Believer, Slayer and Machine Head. Melding the best of thrash with elements of progressive metal and hard-core, 'Burial' is one unique musical journey you won't want to miss. Produced and mixed by the band, the album's mood and tone are made up of heart stopping rhythms, complex time changes, layers of intricate guitars, grinding power chords and harsh vocal deliveries; demonstrating Extol to be more than just a passing phase. Whilst technically proficient. Extol refuse to get caught up in the rut of over clinical delivery; enabling the listener to enjoy plumbing the sonic depths that the band expose. 'Burial' also boasts some well crafted and intelligent lyrics; challenging the listener into reflecting upon life's many season's and the hope that lies in their midst. Let's hope Extol receive the exposure needed in the midst of a genre sadly riddled with Satan's lies.
