Reviewed by Paul Kerslake Eva Sabiniano is a 13 year old US-based Filipino who has been singing and performing since early childhood. She won the Asian American Idol in 2006, and performs regularly, as well as serving at her home church. This, Eva's second album, is a polished set of songs, all firmly in the R&B/soft pop vein. The production is exemplary; lots of creative beats, stacked backing vocals and the LA sheen we normally associate with record label releases. And the lyrics are all vertically focused with "He Is The Way", "Watching Over Me" and "You Changed Me" being powerfully Christ-centred. However, what drags this set down is Eva's vocal performance. She can sing, there is no doubt, but her youthful pitch and mannered inflections just don't quite fit with the music. Singer's voices develop as they get older, and she is only 13. While I commend what she's achieved, and I don't want to detract from what is a growing ministry, the whole project just comes across as a bit Disney, a bit R&B-lite.
