I am always a little suspicious of gospel albums that are clearly studio recorded where they add a few bits of crowds clapping at the beginning and end of some of the tracks to give it a bit of life. In the case of Eternal Light, they needn't have bothered because here's a band who combine good old fashioned quartet-style gospel fire, interesting vocal arrangements, catchy songs and a straight forward uplifting message. Sharp production gives it a strong sound and if you're looking for gospel music that doesn't incorporate too much of that modern R&B and hip-hop influences into the mix then you'll enjoy 'New Thang'. It's contemporary gospel that remembers the Gospel Highway of old. It may also remind you that God is big and he cares.
