It can't be easy following up a million selling debut particularly when one of your group takes off for the solo spotlight but the Croydon soul sisters have, as surely all but the most blinkered rock buff would acknowledge, loads of talent. And the talent shines through here with 13 tracks of top grade R&B and pop. Listen to that delicious languid groove on "Good Thing" or the beautiful pop revival of Bob Marley's old "Redemption Song". The problem for the Christian listener are the lyrics. Chorus hooks about "our bodies just melt into one" are pretty tame by the explicit soft porn of many modern R&B acts but they're an unwelcome addition to the endearing innocence that pervaded their 'Always And Forever' debut. Adding pouting sexuality to the group's image might be a smart marketing move but it won't endear them to the mums and dads tuning in to Saturday Morning Live or Blue Peter. Let the final word go in praise of "I Am Blessed", a beautiful Christian ballad which EMI are hoping to see become a massive Christmas hit. It's lilting poignancy represents a more sophisticated almost Whitney Houston approach to their music and I for one wish it every success.
