Ernie Haase & Signature Sound have been going since 2002 but this is the album which made the heady heights of number one on the US Christian music charts. Coming as it does through the doors of the hugely successful Gaither stables, it's a very polished offering and you can be quite sure of what you're likely to get. Vocals from the quintet are excellent with great refinement and the guys sing some astounding harmonies which combine to give the songs some real depth and feel to them. The songs range from the contemporary "Until We Fly Away" to the traditional "Someday" which has a very predictable but not unpleasant flavour which typifies the Southern gospel style. A strong point for 'Get Away Jordan' is that it doesn't just stick rigidly to Southern gospel stereotypes but moves through a variety of styles in the music which include jazz and contemporary gospel. One thing I would query however is the validity of including a glossy orchestral rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner" on a Christian CD - very patriotic for the home audience but not a selling point elsewhere! Despite this one gripe, still worth it for the vocals alone.
