Six songs from Cuban-American hip-hop artist Eric Heron have been playlisted on Cross Rhythms radio and three of them come from this nine-song album, released in January this year. With an overall but not exclusive southern feel, 'Neon: A Somewhat Adamant Sequel' features some pulsating basslines as in the opening "Take It Over" where Heron gives an overview of his life and where he's headed. In "Halycon" we hear about how "the glory got me. . . now I put my trust above cos I'm sure he got me." The rapper also brings his passion of sport into the mix ("Die Down" referencing legendary basketball player Scottie Pippin). We're invited into his personal life in "Want Me Back" as he talks about the girl missing in his life. But the best three cuts are those playlisted gems, "All I Know", "Vegeta" and "MKM". One of the best independent hip-hop projects of the last few years.
