Building on the abrasive new rock persona he forged with his 'Transformation' album, Eric follows through with another superlative indie rock-tinged selection. The songs "Am I Looking Good?" (which can be found on Volume 28 of the Cross Rhythms Experience) and "Just Me" speak of how we lead selfish lives concerned only with ourselves, whilst "Giving Up" and "I Am Nothing" say to God what we all know, but struggle to admit;"... I am nothing/ Without Your love..". The title track deals with another issue we all face, "It's so hard to be good when bad comes so natural." This is an album which pleases the listener (the music is great), without compromising the message. I sometimes struggle with which CCM albums I should introduce my non-Christian friends to, some having their message hidden away in long words, or worse still - you just can't hear the words. But here there is an (audible!) message for believers and non-believers alike, no fancy metaphors, just the issues and the questions that my generation faces every day, and the answer - GOD. Buy this album!
