The long awaited follow up to the original 'Trio' album of over a decade ago, which was a fantastic musical and commercial success, is something of a disappointment. What made the original so outstanding was a combination of strong songs in a style that bucked the trend of Nashville in the mid '80s when it was assumed that this style of music would not sell. After several plays, whilst the new album is almost faultless, it just does not pack the same outstanding punch of its predecessor nor does it possess such a strong gospel influence. The old Carter family song "Lovers Return" and the new song written by the O'Kanes "When We're Gone, Long Gone" are the two most gospel-influenced. To sum up, this is an album I will continue to enjoy, but it really doesn't compare to the original album.
