Cross Rhythms originally reviewed 'The Question' back in September 2005 when it got a solid seven squares. With the release of the deluxe edition they have added five acoustic takes of existing songs, two unheard demo songs and a DVD containing an hour long film about the band, a set of live songs and some bonus footage. When viewing the DVD on a computer you can also access hidden videos and songs by scrolling the mouse around the screen and looking for the Emery symbols that pop up. The pick of the acoustic songs is the piano driven "Ponytail Parades", which works well as a stripped down ballad. The demo songs are interesting as works in progress but don't really exhibit the crunch and tightness that the album tracks do. The DVD's band bio is certainly comprehensive and interviews all the members/ex-members of the band about their rise to Tooth & Nail artists. The live footage is good but the sound quality doesn't really do the guys' performance justice. If you don't already have the original version of this album or you are a die-hard Emery fan then this special edition may be of interest to you.
