In America, this band are being touted as the next big thing in Christian pop punk in the wake of Hawk Nelson and Relient K. This occupies very similar musical territory with a bratty attitude and clever songs about the traumas of teenage life. The band are a bunch of young adults reaching out to other young adults and while these songs are well written and driven along by thumping drums and a wall of punky guitars and hooky choruses, there's still a sense that I've heard of all this before. a lot. That's not to say that this isn't a good album, it is but it hardly wins prizes for originality. Quirky songs about Myspace, brat pack nostalgia and failing teenage romances are all in place here and the band have made a tight debut so maybe I'm expecting too much. Let's hope unlike Relient K they're not still doing this stuff in a few years time.
