This album could be a CD of Songs Of Praise from the Royal Albert Hall, if Aled Jones were American. Led by worship leader Don Moen, this live worship concert contains a well balanced mix of orchestral praise, hymns, solos and gospel numbers. Intersperced with readings and testimonies it makes for a powerful, if decidedly MOR/soft pop, impact. The Songs Of Praise reference might be taken to imply that this album would only interest that type of audience. While somewhat true, it should not be too readily dismissed. The content gets rather too schmaltzy for a British audience, but this is, in part, evidence of the efforts made to produce an event of exceptional quality and impact. A wide range of songwriters are represented, from Charles Wesley to Ron Kenoly, all excellently arranged for pop orchestra. The closing "Hallelujah Chorus" takes its inspiration more from 'The Young Messiah' than Handel's original score.
