After a powerful, spiritual experience as an adult in full control of his faculties Don felt it was natural that he should use his music to communicate the reality of his faith. Free from the Christian clichés, directness and clarity are evident in his poetic lyrics. It is a discipline he has tried to achieve from day one! His brilliant, classic song 'He's Alive' was one of the better Dove Award winners as the Gospel Music Association's Song Of The Year back in the 70s. Don Francisco is without a doubt a Christian storyteller in song of the first order. It has been said that Don Francisco is somewhat too opinionated. But when one listens to some of today's secular talent and compares it to Don's, it is easy to argue that he is certainly better than most! Country-tinged folk-rock, these balladeer songs are unique with a sharp cutting edge that makes them distinctively his. Nobody in gospel music writes in the same style as he does! Don's first story-song was 'Come And Follow' finding it was more effective to paint a picture in song rather than pointing a finger as a means of reaching people.
