During the past few years Dolly's career has gone in many and various directions but her brand new album finds her finally back in the country field. It kicks off with a bright track "If You Need Me" and continues with a good duet with Ricky Van Shelton "Rockin Years". The best track on the album is "Silver And Gold'. A distinctly gospel flavoured track written by veteran country rocker Carl Perkins and his two sons. The duet with Lorrie Mencan "Best Woman Wins" (now issued as a single here in the U.K. for Lorrie on RCA) is trite by comparison. Carl Perkins re-appears as co-writer with Dolly of "Family", which is the sort of sentimental semi-religious piece you could only find in country music. The remaining tracks are mainly written by Dolly, and with a crisp production by Steve Buckingham this is an enjoyable album of good modern country music.
