Seemingly ever since the ground-breaking-but-very-American 'Nitro Praise' was released, Christians all over the place have been clamouring to produce the definitive dance/worship album and this is the latest effort from the States. The selling point of this particular album is not in DIY instrumentals at the end of the album for your youth group or congregation to sing along to but in the fact that it not only contains choruses made groovy such as "I Will Call Upon The Lord" and "Praise The Name Of Jesus" but also dance versions of songs by artists as diverse as Twila Paris, the Newsboys, Andrae Crouch and U2. Yes, even U2's rendition of Psalm 40, "40", is given an ambient remix. There are some very good tracks, the best being "They That Wait" with its Euro-pop sound, the highly effective trance version of "We Exalt Thee" and the Twila Paris cut "The Joy Of The Lord". Having praised those tracks though, I'm going to have to pass judgment over most of the others, including "Shine" from the Newsboys, which I feel is a bit limp, and Crouch's "Soon And Very Soon", which sounded much better when revived on 'A Myx'd Trip To A Gospel House 2'. Overall then, some tracks well worth hearing but also some that seem a little overshadowed in the light of recent releases.
