Having years of gigging and fairly obscure released Disciple broke through bigtime with their best selling 'Disciple' album. Now this new set ensnares the uninitiated listener with their catchy, melodic rock, coming across like Pillar or Kutless, but with a more metallic sound. Once you have been hooked, they crank up the distortion pedals and really cut loose. Producer Travis Wyrick captures the Knoxville rockers' sound brilliantly, allowing every riff, lick and harmonic to blend with Kevin Young's powerful and passionate voice. The melody lines are underpinned by a monstrous sound from the rhythm section. Disciple display a high level of proficiency with their playing and songwriting. The songs are well structured, and the lyrics are intelligent and cliché-free. "Game On", "Dive" and "Fight For Love" are all delivered with frantic purpose, while the title track and "Regime Change" also stand out. The two ballads, "After The World" and "No End At All" are by no means poor songs, but come across as formulaic as any power ballad of the last five years. However, given the strength of the lyrics, this is a relatively minor complaint. The only other fault with this album is the length, as it clocks in at just 39 minutes. Personally though, I would just listen to it again to enjoy it for longer. If they can keep up this progress, the next album will be incredible.
