Deniece Williams has re-emerged after the birth of her baby boy to record this unusual album. It's a collection of lullabies which she has co-written. The songs are sensitively thought out, giving a real glimpse into a new mother's heart. Deniece's distinctive voice gives a quality of innocence to the whole project. Yet this is no beginner's effort; her previous recording experience shows in an excellent production and arrangements throughout. Rather than being a re-run of her previous chart success this is a separate project - a beautiful tribute to her baby in which she gives thanks to God in no uncertain terms. It won't suit everyone because by its very nature it excludes funkier items - there's only one even mildly up-tempo song here. But on its own terms it's a gem.
