Reviewed by Mike Rimmer Another live album from the D:boys but this is not 'Live And In The Can" part two. Where that magnificent album was recorded across a number of venues and over a space of time which allowed them to edit together a polished collage of the total Delirious? experience, this little beaut of an album is a stark, raw, powerful snatch of the heady atmosphere of the legendary D:tour. Captured blinking into the spotlight surrounded by video screens in front of a loud partisan home crowd, this really has the feel of a budget priced bootleg for those who want a memento of a great tour. Recorded at the Southampton gig of the tour on November 8th 1997, where footage was also recorded for the splendid Delirious? video, there are no new songs but there are some great moments. The sofa is there with the fan letters, though the marriage proposal which took place at the gig hasn't made it onto CD! All the songs from 'King Of Fools' have gained an edgier sound and you can almost feel the sweat drip from Stuey G's goatee! Highlights for me are the atmospheric peaks and troughs of the 10 minute version of "Obsession"; a truly inspirational version of "History Maker" reinforcing the fact that it's ordinary people who are going to change the world. Having witnessed the tour, I am biased by fond memories but anyone who has seen Martin Smith don the jester's hat during "King Of Fools" cannot fail to experience tingles down the spine at the version here. Elsewhere, "Come Like You Promise" and "I'm Not Ashamed" are thunderous and "Summer Of Love", previously only available on the 'Deeper EP', is given loads of atmosphere in its live incarnation and to close the set there's a singalong version of "Deeper". A band at the height of its powers proving that on a good night Delirious? are capable of making moving music to make you dance, yell, sing, cry and praise. If you were there, you'll want this: if you weren't, taste a little of what you missed!
