This latest album from the North Carolina rockers, produced by Paul Ebersold, sees the band trying some different musical styles, rather than just the constant heavy rock riffs and screaming vocals. The opener "Crash" starts the listener off on a breath taking ride of hard-hitting rock songs. This is quickly followed up with the heavy rock riffs of "Desperate" with an effective vocal from TJ Harris. The album slows down a bit for "Fading", a song which builds up to the chorus with Harris crying out for a saviour "I'm calling out your name/I'm Fading/So save me". "Best I Can" lives up to the previous tracks promise with a more thoughtful approach to the music. With a chorus that is upbeat, yet beautifully melodic at the same time, the song reminds us all of our humanity "I don't live a perfect life/But God knows I'm trying". There are some quieter moments here as well with "Wasting Away" and the piano-led "Moving On" alongside heavier songs such as "Ride With Me", "Over My Head" and "The Life". The album ends with "Forever With You" which mixes Harris' usual melodic vocals with acoustic guitar, and reminds the listener that we are to seek after God and to try and become more like him, and share his compassion for people.
