Decyfer Down are the latest act to get two of their albums re-issued in the '2' series. In this case the albums 'End Of Grey' (2006) and 'Crash' (2009) comprise the North Carolina-based band's entire recording career to date! 'End Of Grey' is harder, more raw but less varied, whereas 'Crash' has more refinement and polish but is lacking edge. The original review of 'End Of Grey' implies that the band rocks hard but the songs don't leave a lasting impression. This still holds true as there is a grit and determination to the playing, but too many songs are too similar. 'Crash' has more variety in style of song, but there is an overwhelming sense of this being too clean, too shiny and too much trying to appeal to a wider market, in the vein of Pillar or Kutless. The lyrical themes are also quite repetitive, most often going down the route of the struggle against my terrible human nature or draw close to God so he can help you. That said, there are some catchy tunes and interesting riffs to be found. They are just buried beneath a mound of mediocre riffing.
