David leads worship at the Christian Centre, Nottingham, where he has written a host of worship songs for several live congregational albums over the years (see CR70 for review of 2002's 'Above Al Else' plus a Spotlight on Hind). This, his first solo work, paints a more personal portrait in soft pop/inspirational tones, with added textures from a heap of pros, including Ben Castle, Mark Edwards, Dave Clifton, Terl Bryant and Julie Costello. Diversity abounds, with upbeat celebrations of marriage and life itself; moody jazz reflections on walking close to God and a haunting confession of Christ in anticipation of his second coming. Especially moving are those gentle ballads where Hind's appealing vocals are coincidentally reminiscent of Scots folkster Grant Macaskill (and, on the short closing piece, of Chris De Burgh!). While not a truly landmark recording, this is a worthy offering from a clearly talented singer/songwriter.
