All this praise for one album doesn't mean to say that "Burn For You" is no good; far from it; it's just different. "Fighting Spirit" is a driving rocker, "My Son" and "Acts 3:19" are mood pieces with some very thoughtful lyrics, and "Heart's Aching" features Peter Beveridge's keyboards on a song that describes how God longs for us to come on home to Jesus ("So my heart aches to tell you again, come on home my child, come on home to Jesus, he's waiting.") Comparing these albums with "R.O.A.G." and the "Buzz Saw" EP shows how David's music has evolved over the last eight years; whilst "Burn For You" has dated a little, "Spirit" still hits the spot, and of the two, it's the one I prefer. Now I wonder if anybody taped any live cuts at Fests of David with River Deep...?
