Having read a rather pretentious Daily Telegraph article exploring the 'spiritual' significance of Enya and her overrated ethereal pop, I wondered what secular journos and non-Christians might make of the plethora of p&w music recorded and distributed for the all-consuming Christian delight. Sadly, Christians have that irritating tendency to fear criticism while the likes of Enya and Pulp are lauded with spurious, and dangerous, spiritual truth. I therefore resolve to ignore the musical simplicity of most p&w albums and encourage my friends into the presence of the Father with albums like Dave Bilborough's 'New Heart' leading the way. They should not be denied an invitation to hear the excellent opener, "The Day Of The Streams", or the call to celebrate his mighty ways and the realisation that true forgiveness only comes when we are "In His Presence". For me, this is not necessarily one of Dave Bilborough's better albums, but still ideal for music group leaders, Christians interested in the response of some of our leading worship leaders to the current move of the Spirit and those dinner party guests.
