Dave is, of course, a well known singer/songwriter based in Nashville with numerous albums under his belt. 'Golden Days' continues his musical journey with an album which exudes pop feel but with strong country overtones. Opening with the catchy "Twenty Three" and "Loving Los Angeles" the tempo drops considerably to what is arguably the best track on the album, "Good", a piano-based ballad that builds wonderfully and allows Dave to be his most real with a personal expression of his feelings. "Something More" is a gleeful romp through true love, "Little Civil War" a quirky country duet with Lucie Silvas on the give and take in marriage and "Heartbroken Down" a straight rhythm and blues sound complete with horn section that would not be out of place in a New Jersey bar. The approach is definitely mainstream and there are almost no mentions of God. But that doesn't stop this from being a really strong album.
