I've long been an admirer of Mr Hobbs. Of the current crop of gospel vocalists he has a voice every bit as soulful as Luther Vandross in his prime. However, in the past some of his projects have been a little dull so I viewed with some interest his switch from EMI Gospel to Tyscot Records. On balance I'd say that his new album is a definite improvement with a new raw vibrancy to his vocals and a wide range of production approaches (from Darwin himself and Aaron Pierce) making for exciting listening. I love what Darwin does with Chris Tomlin's "Your Grace Is Enough" while several of his own compositions, with their crafty blending of old school church wrecking and contemporary rhythms work well. Definitely an album Darwin's fans will want to investigate.
