Danny has been popular on the cabaret circuit for years, often working with Cannon & Ball. I do feel that you lose a certain vitality when you record with a computer rather than a band, and when you have a strong, soulful voice like Danny Owen, your songs deserve a bit more than this. That's not to say that this tape doesn't have its own appeal. Danny has recorded a mixture of his own numbers and covers that span the whole gamut of soft rock/pop and easy listening. Most notable in his inclusions are Lionel Richie's "Endless Love" and the much recorded "From A Distance". While listening to these with my wife we really felt that he's reclaimed them as Christian numbers and we were really encouraged. He does a splendid version of Carman's "1995" and his own songs leave you in doubt as to where his eyes are fixed. The couple of ballads he performs with his daughter are touching and although I can't say he's my cup of tea, I'd have no hesitation recommending this to people who I know enjoy this style.
