A real Christian music obscurity brought to us Brits by clever ol' Dual Edge, the coolest record store in Britain. Dakoda are an intriguing 5-piece, offering snappy retro-surf-rock with a great line in catchy beats and zingy hooks. Vocalist Davia Vallesillo has the kind of sun kissed vocal style that sounds like she's stepped straight out of Venice (LA, not Italy), while guitarist Pete King never puts a lick wrong. Pete does the power-pop thing one second and every now and again throughs in a Ventures lick to show he's enjoying himself. Sticks-man Chuck Cummings (ex-Common Bond and Split Level and currently the fine Uthanda) cracks out a rhythm as solid as an England prop forward. Several of the songs are growers and connoisseurs of the US Christian underground should get their postal orders off to Soho.
