Alton Hood, Michael Brown and Kelvin Harvey together form a streamlined, hard hitting evangelistic team who tie a no compromise gospel thrust to some of the juiciest sounds around. Sure is a meaty concoction nailing together quality dance floor stuff with sharp communication skills. The Hip Hop Body Slam Hard Rock Holy Spirit Jam/God Gave Rock And Roll To You" really takes off with the best of the stated genres all blended together into a boiling hot brew - great fun with heavy rockers Bride chipping in with some suitably heavy riffs. "Old Tyme Way" is kind of laid back and smoocny, reminiscent of Boyz II Men's cooler stuff. "Keep On Lookin' Up5' has a lyric that talks of the world's current mess with an exhortation to look for a better world to come soon. "How Dat Sound?" turns on the rhythmic aggression in no uncertain manner, while "Innocent Love" has a gentle simple beauty which conveys its message very succinctly. DOC's music is somewhat less frantic than many of their contemporaries, preferring to coax and attract rather than bully or overwhelm. Having said that, the album's closer "Pullin' No Punches" keeps its promise in no uncertain terms. High energy music that hits the spot just right.
