Crystal Lewis, who once played Greenbelt fronting Wild Blue Yonder, is serious news in Canada, but has not yet received her deserved recognition and distribution over here. She normally makes pretty soulful music, but this collection of remixes thrusts her into the top drawer of dance music contributors to the Christian music scene. With help from the inevitable Scott Blackwell and her label-mate T-Bone, she's made an album of quite stunning entertainment. If you can't dance to this then you probably can't dance! Most striking is a version of "Shine Jesus Shine", culled from 1992's 'Breakaway Praise' album, a compilation, which I don't think ever reached these shores. It's not the strongest dance rhythm on the album, but it's strong enough and the version is faithful enough to brother Kendrick's original to make it a real hit on the sanctified dancefloors. (Believe me, we've already used it!) Also worthy of mention are "I Now Live", the two versions of "You'll Be Back For Me" and the completely OTT "Spiritual Warfare", complete with some of the most manic scratching you'll ever hear. Even a song that starts with acoustic strummings ("Lonely") gets dragged into the general mayhem. A superb collection.
