Covenant Worship are a group of worship leaders hailing from Covenant Church in Dallas and their latest live recording sees them pull their collective resources along with a very accomplished band to offer up a collection of new worship songs that mainly focus on the singer's desire to experience God. The atmospheric opener "Gate Of Heaven" puts the theme of longing for God in motion before the likes of "All Things" and the pounding "Song Of My Heart" - both featuring Nicole Binion on vocals - continue in the same vein. Anthemic numbers such as the Joshua Dufrene-led "Love Has Overcome" and "Highest Praise" temporarily transfer the focus of attention away from the believer and onto God before the stripped-back "Persuaded" - arguably the album's highlight - sees lead singers Colin Edge and Gracie Binion once again tell of God's love for his children. There are some musically innovative touches on this release that allow it to stand out at least in part from other live worship recordings on the market but, near the end, the likes of the title track and "All Honour" concludes matters in bog standard fashion by employing the plodding Hillsong-like style of delivery that seems to dominate much of the worship scene at the moment.
