Just when you think Cliff Richard has stagnated, never to have another hit and is destined to be playing to ladies of a certain age wanting the nostalgia of their youth, he delivers one of the best albums of his career and is back in the charts. It's an astonishing feat that 64 year old Cliff still delivers the goods. The latest re-invention sees Sir Cliff venturing to Nashville to fuse his pop sensibilities with a touch of new country and a pile of top (predominantly Christian) musicians. The process began earlier in the year when Cliff gathered a pile of the city's best songwriters for a week's worth of song writing and then cherry picked the best material for the album. Teaming up with some of my favourite Christian producers like Dann Huff, Monroe Jones, Michael Omartian and Tommy Sims hasn't harmed the album either! So you get the country strut and clever lyrics of "Thousand Miles To Go", "What Car" and "Sometimes Love". There's the simplicity and catchiness of the title cut and a pile of others like "Simplicity" and "The Day That I Stop Loving You". The album closes with a trio of songs Chris Eaton including the worshipful "Faithful One". "I Will Not Be A Mistake" sounds like another hit to me! It may well be a hit by the time you read this! Britain's all time most successful pop singer delivers another winner and notches up a few more record breaking weeks on the charts!
