Circle Of Dust is Klay Scott, formerly known as Scott Albert (one of many pseudonyms). He returns with a truly unique album. 'Disengage' is an amalgamation of two musical works - Refractorshasim". a six-song EP that never received independent release due to an unfulfilled record deal on the part of the record company, and 'Disengage', a collection of ideas spanning a period of six years between 1991 and 1997. According to Klay, "'Disengage' will be my final offering as Circle Of Dust." This work is best appreciated as a whole. After each consecutive listen I cannot help but find myself thinking of Klay as being a musical visionary. Paradoxically, each piece, whilst unique in and of itself, combines to form a musical landscape of such variety that the listener is moved beyond the intense wall of diverse sound and into a whole new realm of musical expression. Lyrically. Klay delves deep inside to reveal a pain filled soul that's been scarred at the hands of those he trusted. In spite of the inner struggles and pain, there does appear to be a glimmer of hope as Klay expresses the desire to forgive ('...nothing seems to fill the void/Oh God I long to feel the peace again/And see the hate destroyed" - "Refractor"). Though perhaps not immediately accessible, 'Disengage' is a fine work.
