Christ Central is a group of Newfrontiers churches, including fellowships from Canada and the north of England, as far south as Telford, working together under the apostolic leadership of Jeremy Simpkins and team. 'Irresistible Grace' brings together worship songs homegrown within their network, supported by a wide range of instruments, from cello (Andy Green) through violin (James Thompson) to saxophone (Mark Byles). As such it is a good reflection of spiritual health in terms of Spirit-led creativity. There is a range of material, from pulsating congregational praise numbers such as "Saviour" (Mark Willoughby and Daniel Bower) to the reflective and confessional "The Father's Love" (Chris Johnston and Jonny Catt). Katie Overbeek's dulcet vocal clarity is showcased on Bower's "The Divine Exchange", electric guitar and percussion taking a backseat allowing the lyrical truths to sparkle - "The wrath of God released in grace." "How Great Is Your Love", written and sung by Pippa Lloyd, is another Jesus-focused number. Overbeek re-appears on her own composition, "Risen", accompanying herself on keys. A well above average album of modern worship.
